“Last of the Red Hot Lovers” on Stage at Island ETC
Island ETC (East-End Theatre Company) is thrilled to wind up their 15th season – our Season of Love – with Neil Simon’s hilarious comedic masterpiece, “Last of the Red Hot Lovers.”
Barney Cashman, middle-aged, overworked, and with no experience in covert maneuvers, is bored with his bland, ‘nice’ life. Married to his high school sweetheart, Barney wants to have one sweeping extra-marital fling in his tranquil, faithful marriage before life passes him by. On three different afternoons, he brings women to his mother’s apartment while she is at work.
Returning to the ETC stage as Barney Cashman is Kevin Daugherty. The three women Barney attempts to seduce are the foul-mouthed, neurotic Elaine Navazio (Kimber Fountain), Bobbi Michele, a young actress who puts the ‘kook’ in kooky (Bri Wehman), and Jeanette Fisher, a gloomy, depressed housewife (Julie Fontenot).
Christopher L. Pool directs “Last of the Red Hot Lovers,” scenic design is by Thomas D. Boon, costume design by Nancy Dougherty, light design by Lisa Miller, and production stage manager is David Cooley.
Performances for this hilarious production are May 11th-26th. Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8pm. There will be two Sunday matinees at 2:30pm on May 13th and May 20th. Please note that Sunday, May 13th, is Mother’s Day. An afternoon at the theatre is the perfect treat for those special women in your life.
Island ETC is located at 2317 Mechanic St. and tickets are $30 for adults and $25 for students and senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased at islandetc.org. Special rates are available for groups of ten of more by calling (409)762-3556.
