Become a Young Entrepreneur:

National Lemonade Day and Lemonade Day Galveston County

On May 6th, Lemonade Day will takeover the streets and community of Galveston Island. Youth of all ages, from pre-K through high school, will set up an official “Lemonade Day” lemonade stand on Sunday, May 6th all across Galveston Island. You can participate and help support today’s youth by purchasing lemonade through the city.

On this day, more than 850 children from across Galveston County will become entrepreneurs by setting up lemonade stands. By May 6th, these children will have been preparing for weeks by learning the lessons of owning and operating a business such as setting goals, planning, budgeting, finding an investor, running their business, and so much more.

Lemonade Day Galveston County, which is an initiative of the Galveston Regional Chamber’s Education Committee, empowers today’s youth to become tomorrow’s entrepreneurs. Youth of all ages across Galveston County register to set-up an official Lemonade Day stand. Upon registering, participants will receive a backpack with an entrepreneur workbook that teaches the 14 lessons of Lemonade Day.

As of right now, there are only 18 stands participating. Stand locations can be found at lemonadeday.org/galveston-county. Be sure to check the website for more current and up-to-date stands and locations as the day arrives.

On the plus side, local businesses can still get involved. For instance, your company can donate money, mentor kids, serve as a site location, and much more. Just $100 can provide the supplies needed for 10 kids to participate in Lemonade Day Galveston County. If you are interested in helping, contact the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce at (409)763-5326 or go to galveston.lemonadeday.org.

Lemonade Day is a strategic lesson-based program that walks youth from a dream to a business plan, while teaching them the same principles required to start any big company. Inspiring kids to work hard and make a profit, they are also taught to spend some, save some, and share some by giving back to their community. Since its launch in 2007 in Houston Texas, Lemonade Day has grown from serving 2,700 kids in one city to over 1 million children across North America. Lemonade Day sparks the spirit of entrepreneurship and empowers youth to set goals, work hard, and achieve their dreams.
