Sixth Annual Ohana Surf Dog Competition, July 21st

“Hang Four” Paws at the Sixth Annual Ohana Surf Dog Competition

Get ready to “hang four” (paws, of course) at the Sixth Annual Ohana Surf Dog event on Saturday, July 21st. The wet, wild and waggin’ activities run 8-11am at 27th and Seawall Boulevard in Galveston.

Surf Dogs is a partnership between Ohana Surf & Skate and the Galveston Island Humane Society (GIHS), showcasing island pets in an awesome, unique dog surf competition.

“We love combining our amazing four-legged friends with part of our island’s unique culture,” stated Galveston Island Humane Society Executive Director Caroline Dorsett Pate. “We encourage the public to sign their dogs up, have fun and support the shelter!”

The event will welcome back Surf Gidget the Pug. Surf Gidget is a rare white pug from Maine who now resides in sunny Southern California with an abundance amount of energy and an exquisite talent – she’s a Pro surf dog who competes in surf competitions to raise funds for those in need. Surf Gidget is hosting a Friday surf camp from 12:30-1:15pm. Call (409)763-2700 to register, spaces are limited.

Surf Dogs isn’t just wet and wild fun; the event brings awareness and vital support to the Galveston Island Humane Society. When you become a sponsor of Surf Dogs, you share in our life-saving work and get unique exposure for your business or organization, including access to the exclusive Sponsor Party brought to you by Tito’s Handmade Vodka. The Tito’s Sponsor Party takes place on Friday, July 20th, 6-9pm, at Smooth Tony’s in Galveston.
