As part of Artist Boat’s free World Oceans Day Festival in Galveston on June 8th, we are highlighting the theme of “Plastic Pollution Prevention” with an art contest designed to help educate and inspire visitors. Artwork may be submitted between May 28th and June 7th prior to the World Oceans Day Festival.

World Oceans Day is June 8th and is an international day of ocean celebration and action.

Plastics and other types of trash are one of the greatest threats facing our oceans. We are inviting artists and ocean-lovers of all ages to create masterpieces out of aquatic trash to highlight this problem. Submissions may be created using the medium of your choice but should heavily utilize marine debris in their composition.

Join us at Stewart Beach to celebrate the seas: explore the human connection to the ocean with hands-on activities provided by partner organizations, enjoy live music, view submissions in our Marine Debris Art Contest, and more! The Festival is fun for ocean-lovers of all ages!

For full contest guidelines please visit https://www.artistboat.org/world-oceans-day-festival/ or call the Artist Boat office at (409) 770-0722.

Specific questions may also be sent to the event coordinator at admin@artistboat.org.

Artist Boat is a 501(c)(3) located in Galveston that is dedicated to promoting awareness and preservation of coastal margins and the marine environment through the disciplines of the sciences and the arts.
