October 14th-15th: 35th Annual Greek Festival

35th Annual Greek Festival – OPA!

The 35th Annual Greek Festival will be held October 14th-15th benefitting the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, located at 1824 Ball St. Festival hours are Saturday 11am-8pm, and Sunday 12 noon-6pm. Entertainment and church tours will be every two hours.

The best part of the festival is the food – two full days of authentic food prepared on site along with imported Greek wines and beer, live entertainment, gifts, and tours of the Greek Orthodox Church.

Savor traditional Greek favorites including mouthwatering souvlaki (shish kabob), gyro, vegetarian dishes, and a complete dinner of pastitsio, salad, dolmades, olives and meat balls. To complement the menu is imported Greek beer and wines, and for dessert there are pastries baked by the ladies in the community. Enjoy baklava, melomacarona, kourambiedes, koulourakia, and paximadia with a fresh cup of coffee. Don’t miss the made to order loukoumades: a honey puff pastry drizzled with honey and homemade sweet bread.

There will be featured imported items including icons, jewelry, paintings, gift items, imported foods, religious items, and much more. Returning again this year is the ever talented Alex Kalos who plays the clarinet, bouzouki, and every other instrument that compliments Greek dancing. Everyone is invited and encouraged to join the dance line to catch the Greek spirit at this festive event.

Father Stelios Sitaras, parish priest, will conduct educational tours of the church on Saturday 11am-6pm, and Sunday beginning at 12 noon. The public is invited to attend Divine Liturgy on Sunday at 10am. The service is one hour.

A donation of $2 per person at the door is appreciated. All foods and drink items are priced individually ranging from $2 to $8, including pastries. A complete dinner is available for $16. Advance dinner tickets are available online at until October 5th. Tickets for all items will be sold at ticket booths at the event.
