Birding Galore: Classes & Workshops in August

Second Saturday of every Month (9-11am) – “Birding 101”  is presented by Moody Gardens and Galveston Island Nature Tourism Council and is a series of free classes designed to educate and excite people about the tremendous variety of bird life routinely seen around Galveston Island. Classes meet at the Aquarium Pyramid lobby at Moody Gardens, located at 1 Hope Blvd. You can attend at any time in the series. For more info call (409)683-4101 or go to galvestonnaturetourism.org.

Third Saturday of every Month (9-11am) – “Birding 201” classes allow participants, led by an instructor, to visit areas on the Island to find a tremendous variety of birds. Participants should meet in the Aquarium Pyramid lobby at Moody Gardens, located at 1 Hope Blvd. The cost for the class is $5, and Moody Gardens will provide transportation. August 4th (6:30am-7pm): 5th Annual TBO Summer Fundraiser Fishing Tournament will be held at West End Marina in Galveston. They are raising money for Shriners Children’s Hospital (Galveston) and Texas Boys Outdoors. There will be live music, a fundraiser auction, and fun for all.
