A skilled team of master ice carvers has taken 2 million pounds of ice to create your festive journey “Around the World!” Travel from Russia and Egypt to China and beyond to see how other cultures celebrate the season. Glide from the top of the Eiffel Tower on the Giant Ice Slide where you might catch a glimpse of Australia, Holland, Rio or even Santa Claus. You can even take a moment to chill out on the ice with a festive drink inside the Shivers Ice Bar that has transformed into a log cabin decked out for the holidays where you can cozy up to a cool fireplace made completely of ice!

Starting November 16th-January 12th, Holiday in the Gardens will take place. As the largest holiday destination in the Southwest, Moody Gardens offers more holiday attractions, activities, festive fun, dining, and hotel packages than you can imagine.

Brighten up the holidays with a tradition for families and groups alike. A mile-long trail with more than one million lights and lighted scenes take you around the Moody Gardens property with spectacular views of Galveston Bay. Galveston’s Own Farmers Market at Bryan Museum @ Bryan Museum

Every Thursday 3-6pm and Sunday 9am-12 noon (note new summer hours), Galveston’s Own Farmers Market is held at The Bryan Museum Gardens, located at 1315 21st St. Come to the beautiful Conservatory and botanical gardens to relax and enjoy time and conversation with friends, family, and museum staff while shopping for locally grown produce, prepared foods, and edible farm products, plus live music, yoga, massage, crafting and Kids Corner! 

The Thursday market features all of the perks that you’ve come to expect at the market plus the added charms of the Bryan Museum’s “Wine at the Bryan” weekly event.

Thirsty Thursdays is every 3rd Thursday wherein Galveston Island Brewing donates beers first-come, first-serve to our market customers. They shop, sip and stroll the market while exploring the museum grounds & buying local foods.

The Sunday market also features wonderful goods and the charm of Bryan’s courtyard. It is always free to browse and most events are FREE to participate. 

At every market, there will be:

  • Live music
  • A chance to learn more about The Bryan Museum
  • FREE recycling with Keepin’ It Green: Every week, they accept your clean, rinsed recyclable plastics, glass, aluminum and paper/cardboard. KIG comes to pick it up every week aftermarket.
  • Family-friendly activities sponsored by partners like Rosenberg Library, Galveston Island State Park, Galveston Island Humane Society, etc.

GOFM is always “BYOC” – bring your own cup. They have eliminated single-use cups for the free Sunday morning coffee station and Thursday water station. Support the initiative by cleaning out your cupboards and donating unwanted mugs to market for others to use.

And while your taste buds are celebrating delicious, you can put the guilt aside knowing that your participation in Restaurant Week is helping others. This year, Galveston Restaurant Week eatery has committed to help Access Care of Coastal Texas provide weekly lunches to its clients. These lunches provide nutrition for persons with HIV or AIDS. Participating in Galveston Restaurant Week is easy! No tickets or passes are required! Food lovers may simply dine out at as many participating restaurants as they like during Galveston Restaurant Week. Two and/or 3-course dinners will be priced between $20-$35; and 2-course lunches, breakfasts, & brunches will cost between $10-$20. Cooking Class: Southern Biscuit Saturday! @ Kitchen Chick

Come take a cooking class at The Kitchen Chick! Buttery, flaky, and tender – the hallmarks of a great biscuit! Join Chef Bailey and learn to master the art of baking big southern biscuits! She will teach you biscuit basics and then show you how to make a seasonal fruit jam from scratch, cinnamon pecan compound butter AND finger-licking herb-crusted crispy fried chicken drizzled with sweet heat buffalo syrup! We’re throwing a big ‘ol biscuit breakfast baking party!

*There is always live music and activities/information offered by one of our many Community Partners, whether it’s Rosenberg Library, Galveston Island State Park – Texas Parks and Wildlife, Galveston Sports Massage, facepainting or beyond…

*Products typically available include: kombucha, fresh bread, hand-roasted coffee, teas/salves/tinctures, olive oil, baked goods, salsa, jams, fresh eggs & meats and fresh produce. All GOFM markets utilize only LOCAL vendors selling foods they grow or make themselves, which means at certain times of year we have very little produce because our local farmers have very little harvest (ie if it has rained a great deal, or the middle of summer, immediately after several days of freeze, etc.)

Cooking Class: Fresh Homemade Ravioli! @ Kitchen Chick

Come take a cooking class at The Kitchen Chick! Unlock your inner Italian Nonna by learning how to make fresh ravioli at home! Roll up your sleeves and join Chef Bailey Shinn for this hands-on class! To start, you will make a savory pear, date & burrata flatbread garnished with crispy rosemary. Next, you will learn to make luxuriously rich, creamy ricotta cheese from scratch! You will need a little elbow grease to make your own homemade pasta which we will turn into soft ravioli pillows stuffed with a traditional ricotta and spinach filling and dressed with a mouthwatering sage brown butter sauce. You will also prepare asparagus roasted with walnuts & tasty garlic butter. Finally, for dessert indulge in a silky olive oil chocolate mousse finished with fresh whipped cream! Mama mia, this is going to be a delizioso class!

The Thursday market features all of the perks that you’ve come to expect at the market plus the added charms of the Bryan Museum’s “Wine at the Bryan” weekly event. The Sunday market also features wonderful goods and the charm of Bryan’s courtyard. It is always free to browse and most events are FREE to participate. 

At every market, there will be:

  • Live music
  • A chance to learn more about The Bryan Museum
  • FREE recycling with Keepin’ It Green: Every week, they accept your clean, rinsed recyclable plastics, glass, aluminum and paper/cardboard. KIG comes to pick it up every week aftermarket.
  • Family-friendly activities sponsored by partners like Rosenberg Library, Galveston Island State Park, Galveston Island Humane Society, etc.

GOFM is always “BYOC” – bring your own cup. They have eliminated single-use cups for the free Sunday morning coffee station and Thursday water station. Support the initiative by cleaning out your cupboards and donating unwanted mugs to market for others to use.

Every Sunday (10am): Yoga Classes – These classes are led by local yoga teachers. All classes are free to attend.

*There is always live music and activities/information offered by one of our many Community Partners, whether it’s Rosenberg Library, Galveston Island State Park – Texas Parks and Wildlife, Galveston Sports Massage, facepainting or beyond…

*Products typically available include: kombucha, fresh bread, hand-roasted coffee, teas/salves/tinctures, olive oil, baked goods, salsa, jams, fresh eggs & meats and fresh produce. All GOFM markets utilize only LOCAL vendors selling foods they grow or make themselves, which means at certain times of year we have very little produce because our local farmers have very little harvest (ie if it has rained a great deal, or the middle of summer, immediately after several days of freeze, etc.)

Cooking Class: Valentine’s Day Cookies with Royal Icing! @ Kitchen Chick

Come take a cooking class at The Kitchen Chick! Join us for a fun sugar cookie decorating class to celebrate Valentine’s Day! Chef Stephanie will teach you her secret recipe for making foolproof sugar cookies and how to ice them perfectly. You’ll learn to MAKE, pour, pipe, border, fill, dye, paint and dust royal frosting! Each participant will leave with a dozen decorated cookies, as well as all the recipes, knowledge and confidence to make them again at home! These fancy cookies are definitely made with love!

Galveston’s Own Farmers Market at Bryan Museum @ Bryan Museum

Every Thursday 3-6pm and Sunday 9am-12 noon (note new summer hours), Galveston’s Own Farmers Market is held at The Bryan Museum Gardens, located at 1315 21st St. Come to the beautiful Conservatory and botanical gardens to relax and enjoy time and conversation with friends, family, and museum staff while shopping for locally grown produce, prepared foods, and edible farm products, plus live music, yoga, massage, crafting and Kids Corner!

Thirsty Thursdays is every 3rd Thursday wherein Galveston Island Brewing donates beers first-come, first-serve to our market customers. They shop, sip and stroll the market while exploring the museum grounds & buying local foods.

Cooking Class: Tacos & Tequila! @ Kitchen Chick

Come take a cooking class at The Kitchen Chick! Taco-about delicious, Chef Bailey Shinn is excited to teach you the art of homemade tortillas – you’ll never buy store-bought again! Next you will learn to make tender lime-tequila marinated steak tacos drizzled with a fresh avocado crema sauce. Then we will prepare spicy Cajun shrimp tacos with topped with a tipsy tequila slaw. During class you’ll love sipping on a fresh seasonal margarita! Finally, we’ll wrap up the class by indulging in decadent margarita bars (think cheesecake, think tequila, say yes!)! Interested?
