Grab your friends, hot date or your crew from the office and join us for a great time! Get ready to indulge on this menu of Tiki Wheat and smoked beet & goat cheese salad with Tiki Wheat Vinaigrette. Pairing No. 2 will be Citra Mellow IPA and marinated skirt steak served over warm corn tortillas, topped with chopped onions, queso fresco, and cilantro. Served with Jicama Salad. Pairing No. 3 is housemade waffles served with a Fried Egg, an ‘I’m Hangry!’ Fried chicken slider and topped with warm syrup. Galveston’s Own Farmers Market at Bryan Museum @ Bryan Museum

Every Thursday 3-6pm and Sunday 9am-12 noon (note new summer hours), Galveston’s Own Farmers Market is held at The Bryan Museum Gardens, located at 1315 21st St. Come to the beautiful Conservatory and botanical gardens to relax and enjoy time and conversation with friends, family, and museum staff while shopping for locally grown produce, prepared foods, and edible farm products, plus live music, yoga, massage, crafting and Kids Corner! 

The Thursday market features all of the perks that you’ve come to expect at the market plus the added charms of the Bryan Museum’s “Wine at the Bryan” weekly event. The Sunday market also features wonderful goods and the charm of Bryan’s courtyard. It is always free to browse and most events are FREE to participate. 

At every market, there will be:

  • Live music
  • A chance to learn more about The Bryan Museum
  • FREE recycling with Keepin’ It Green: Every week, they accept your clean, rinsed recyclable plastics, glass, aluminum and paper/cardboard. KIG comes to pick it up every week aftermarket.
  • Family-friendly activities sponsored by partners like Rosenberg Library, Galveston Island State Park, Galveston Island Humane Society, etc.

GOFM is always “BYOC” – bring your own cup. They have eliminated single-use cups for the free Sunday morning coffee station and Thursday water station. Support the initiative by cleaning out your cupboards and donating unwanted mugs to market for others to use.

Every Sunday (10am): Yoga Classes – These classes are led by local yoga teachers. All classes are free to attend.

‘Boozy Creole Feast’ Cooking Class with The Kitchen Chick @ Kitchen Chick

The Kitchen Chick, Downtown Galveston’s charming boutique kitchen shop, offers specialty gourmet kitchen wares and accessories, plus a full schedule of enticing cooking classes. Now in its new location at 2402 Market St., there’s a lot going on in the kitchen. 

Classes range from $50-$75. Reservations are made on a first come, first served basis. Class sizes are kept small to ensure lots of interaction with the instructor. To reserve your spot call (409)497-2999 or go to thekitchenchick.com. Classes are:

Learn to Cook with WIC and GOFM @ Bryan Museum

July 16th, August 20th (12 noon): Learn to Cook with WIC – This free cooking class is led by Chef Mary Bass. Students can eat a fresh meal for lunch, gain cooking knowledge, and create a recipe based on average monthly WIC benefits. RSVP to (409)938-7221. You can receive $30 of FREE fruits, vegetables, and plants from local farmers at the weekly markets. Vouchers are good until Halloween and can only be distributed one per year. You must bring your WIC “Shopping List” (the paper printout you get at the clinic) in order to receive the vouchers.

Great Dolphin Beer Rescue Benefit @ Brick House Tavern

November 23rd (1-5pm): Great Dolphin Beer Rescue – The Great Dolphin Beer Rescue is a great way to enjoy great craft beer at Galveston Island Brewing and support Galveston’s only Dolphin Rescue team: Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network. Back by popular demand for the 3rd year is TMMSN pint glass specials, Mario’s Pizza, and live reggae music by Dem Roots. The Great Dolphin Beer Rescue will also once again feature some fantastic raffle prizes you’ll want to get your hands on.

Galveston Island Brewery (GIB) is a local brewery featuring an on-site taproom showcasing classic beer styles from around the world. The taproom is open seven days a week, Monday-Thursday 3-9pm, Friday 3-11pm, Saturday 12 noon-11pm, and Sunday 12 noon-9pm. Holiday Tree Lighting at Hotel Galvez @ Hotel Galvez

Thanksgiving weekend Hotel Galvez invites guests and the community to celebrate the start of the holidays with the Official City of Galveston Holiday Lighting Celebration on Friday, November 29th. Dickens on the Stand Festival, Downtown Galveston @ Downtown Galveston

December 6th-8th: Dickens on the Strand – Brush off your bowlers and prepare your petticoats as Galveston Historical Foundation presents the 46th annual Dickens on The Strand. Held the first weekend in December, the annual festival is a holiday tradition with great family programming, live entertainment, special events and more. The annual holiday street festival, based on 19th-century Victorian London, features parades, non-stop entertainment on four stages, new additions like Tiny Tim’s Play Land, Shopkeeper Skills Village, and roaming characters throughout the festival. Costumed vendors peddle their wares from street stalls and rolling carts laden with holiday food and drink, Victorian-inspired crafts, clothing, jewelry, holiday decorations and gift items. Breakfast with Dickens @ Ashton Villa

December 7th (8-10am): Breakfast With Dickens –The great-great-granddaughter of Charles Dickens, Jane Monk, isn’t just coming to this year’s event to take in the sights and share in her heritage, she’s also there to enjoy a traditional English breakfast with our guest chef! Your RSVP for breakfast includes a keepsake ornament, photos with Father Christmas, and a performance with the Houston Children’s Choir (Saturday, Sunday TBD). Join them as they prepare a one-of-a-kind experience in one of Galveston’s most beloved historic homes, the 1859 Ashton Villa. Jane Dickens Monk will be on hand signing books and you can upgrade your ticket to include a specially signed book ready for pick-up that morning.
