This spring, you can make a difference in a variety of ways. Check out these upcoming events:
April 27th (10am-1pm): Build a Stand, Spark a Dream and Best Lemonade Tasting Contest – As part of Galveston Lemonade Day preparations, come out to Village Hardware, 6627 Stewart Rd., Galveston and “Build a Stand.” Kits will be available for registered young entrepreneurs to purchase for $19.99. Volunteers will be on site to assist youth in assembling their stand. Participants should make arrangements to move their stands off-site after construction. Also, you can get a headstart on your best lemonade with the “Best Tasting Contest.” Do you think your lemonade is a cut above everyone else’s? Participate in the 2019 Lemonade Day Galveston County Best Tasting Contest right after the Build A Stand, Spark A Dream event. All interested participants should arrive by 10am to register. Bring one gallon of your lemonade in an unmarked, disposable container. Winners with the best tasting lemonade will receive a trophy and certificate to celebrate their product and the creativity that went into developing it. May 3rd (4-6pm): Kendra Gives Back Trunk Show Benefiting the American Heart Association – Just in time for Mother’s Day – do some jewelry shopping for Mom or for yourself during the Kendra Scott Trunk Show, and benefit a charity at the same time. Hotel Galvez is hosting a Kendra Scott Trunk Show with 20% of sales benefiting the American Heart Association. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide, and stroke ranks second globally. Even when those conditions don’t result in death, they can cause disability and diminish the quality of life. This will be held at Hotel Galvez, 2024 Seawall Blvd., Galveston.
