May 17th (7-9pm): The “I Have A Dream” Youth Art Show and Silent Auction – This will be held at Galveston Urban Ministries, 3818 Ball St. When was the last time you dreamed? When was the last time you saw a dream come to life? GUM will be hosting the “I Have A Dream” Youth Art Show and Silent Auction, in which our students will bring dreams to life through the art of photography! Come enjoy free food, live music, and incredible art. All proceeds go to awesome initiatives like sending kids to camp and alleviating poverty in Galveston. For more info go to

May 19th (12-3pm): “Under the Sea” Champagne Brunch Fundraiser – Enjoy cocktails, brunch, a terrific silent auction, and lively entertainment in support of Access Care of Coastal Texas, Inc (ACCT). For over 30 years, ACCT has provided social, financial, and educational services for people living with HIV/AIDS. This fundraiser allows ACCT to meet individualized client needs that are not otherwise funded by government, charitable, or private agencies. This year’s theme is “Journey to the Bottom of the Sea.”  Tickets to attend are $70 each. This will be held at the Galveston Island Convention Center, 5600 Seawall Blvd., Galveston. June 1st (6-11pm): 2019 Galveston Heart Ball – Join the American Heart Association (AHA), event chairs Dr. Abe DeAnda and Stephen K. Jones, Jr. and 300 of Galveston and Bay Area’s finest philanthropists, business leaders, socialites, medical professionals, and volunteers to raise funds and awareness for the fight against the Number 1 and Number 5 killers of all Americans- heart disease and stroke. This annual event is locally sponsored by UTMB Health, and will be honoring Shanna Pennington, who is a local stroke survivor. The annual Heart Ball campaign allows us to fund the research, advocacy, and education programs of the American Heart Association that play a key role in preventing and treating cardiovascular diseases and stroke in our community. Black Tie & Boots is known throughout the Galveston and Bay Area communities for being one of the most fun, entertaining, and mission-driven galas around. June 14th (4pm): Kendra Gives Back – Come by for a fun Friday of shopping for some beautiful new jewelry at the Kendra Scott Trunk Show while helping provide mental health services for children, individuals, and families in our community! Hotel Galvez is hosting a Kendra Scott Trunk Show, with 20% of sales benefiting Family Service Center of Galveston County. Kendra Scott Friendswood will sell items directly to customers in the lobby of the hotel. Hotel Galvez is located at 2024 Seawall Blvd., Galveston.
