Argentine Tango Comes To Galveston

Argentine Tango dance classes are being offered weekly June 3rd, 10th, and 17th, 5-6:30pm.

The Sunday Tango Series is designed for both men and women who are interested in learning the Argentine tango in a laughter-filled space where the beauty, essence, and excellence of Argentine tango are explored. Dance instructor Bodra Elia is a profoundly gifted, passionate, and articulate tango mentor who has been teaching tango on two continents for eight years and has danced, studied, and taught in Colombia, Argentina, Florida, and both coasts of Canada (Vancouver to St. John’s).

This class focuses on both the science and the art of the dance. The ABC’s of tango to be explored in the course are musicality, connection, improvisation, and sensuality. The 123’s of tango science will have you looking at the biomechanics: things like posture, the physics of the movement, center of gravity, how to move the axis, clean geometry, sensing the trajectory, and precision and flow.

Cost is $15 per class. This is hosted by Third Coast Gallery, 2413 Mechanic St. in Downtown Galveston. No experience or partner required. To register call (407)569-6063 or skirtfulloftango@yahoo.com.
