Do your young ones have a passion for art, science, nature, and love to work with their hands? If so, a specialty art camp like Artist Boat’s Eco-Art Camps may just be the perfect fit. Camps run all summer long and can be taken a week at a time. Sign up now as spaces are limited to ensure small camp size and individual attention.
Artist Boat uses S.T.E.A.M., an educational approach to learning that uses science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.
Artist Boat has won national recognition for its educational programs and is a leader in outdoor educational experiences for small groups led by scientists and artists.
Campers use the scientific method to investigate processes in our ocean. Each camp culminates in the creation of artworks that illustrate the knowledge that campers have acquired about our ocean. Camp sessions are designed for children Kindergarten-Sixth Grade and split into groups of ages 5-8 and ages 9-12.
Summer Camp sessions are $150 per week for half day sessions or $300 per week for full day sessions. Camps are held from 9am-12 noon and 1-4pm. Sessions are limited to 12 campers.

Artist Boat’s purpose is protecting our Gulf Coast through land conservation and with fun, educational, inspiring adventures that spark creativity, awareness, and action.
Since its inception, over 100,000 participants have helped bring 40,000 students to estuaries by kayak, foot, or vessel; created over 50+ public artworks; conserved over 600+ acres on west Galveston Island forming the Coastal Heritage Preserve and creating a place for the future Gulf Coast Environmental Education Center; restored over 50 acres of dunes and prairies to assure recovery of these ecosystems following Hurricane Ike; formed the Bucket Brigade comprised of a Marine Debris Task Force; conducted interpretive tours; and beautified buckets for trash, recycle centers, and more on Galveston beaches.

July 8th-12th (9am-3pm): Yo Ho Ho: It’s a Pirates Life for Me Camp – Swashbuckle into the life of a privateer in the 1800s and follow the footsteps of Galveston’s most famous pirate Jean Lafitte. A search for hidden treasure utilizing maps, compasses, and a pirate’s luck will be a feature of the week, along with lessons about life at sea, early ship building, pirate skills, and navigation. Each week is both fun and educational filled with lots of hands on activities, games, and adventure. Attendance is limited so be sure and sign up quickly. Whether you are a Cowboy or a Pirate, it will be a summer to remember!
The Bryan Museum is located in the historic Galveston Orphans Home at 1315 21st St. in Galveston.
Tours are given (no reservations needed) at 11:30am and 2:30pm. Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and military, $10 for students with valid ID, $5 for children 6-12, and children under 6 are free. The Kitchen Chick, Downtown Galveston’s charming boutique kitchen shop, offers specialty gourmet kitchen wares and accessories, plus a full schedule of enticing cooking classes. Now in its new location at 2402 Market St., there’s a lot going on in the kitchen.

Your child will learn to make golden snitch cheese balls, a slithering Nagini snake calzone, and decadent chocolate cauldron cakes. The class will also brew a batch of homemade butter beer. The class includes everything, so students can leave their wands and robes at home. Spells (aka recipes) will be shared with attendees before they depart on their brooms. Session 4: Brunch Bunch! Mini chefs will rise & shine when they learn to prepare these breakfast-brunch-lunch dishes! Menu includes summer strawberries & cream scones painted with lemon glaze; traditional bacon, egg & gruyere cheese panini prepared with a twist; summer fruit & yogurt parfaits layered with homemade granola; French crepes with fresh peaches and cinnamon spiced whipped cream; fresh baked lemon poppy breakfast bread loaves smeared with cinnamon compound butter; over-the-top cheesy tater tot hot dish (casserole!); hot chocolate waffles topped with homemade whipped cream; classic huevos rancheros with homemade tortillas, ranchero sauce and a fried egg; sweet Cinnamon Toast Crunch squares; flaky, buttery mile high biscuits; Tex Mex crunch wrap supremes with avocado; healthy-ish chocolate peanut butter oatmeal cookies; train car breakfast bread; homemade everything bagel knots with garlic herb schmear; sugar cookies kissed with chai spice; and we’ll share the secret to perfect, fool-proof scrambled eggs!
These experiences will immerse your child in a safe, educational & entertaining world of food and feed their interest in cooking! Students will learn different cooking techniques, discuss nutrition/healthy eating and practice food/kitchen safety in these deliciously hands on, interactive and encouraging lessons! Your child’s kitchen confidence will skyrocket!
Each camp is 4 days in length, held 1PM-4:30PM, limited to 14 students (7-14 years; teen camp 13-17 years) and led by dynamic duo of certified teachers. Campers should arrive having already eaten lunch, wearing closed-toe shoes and long hair secured back. The Kitchen Chick will provide aprons for each child to wear and all supplies and tools. Each student will receive all recipes prepared during their session on their last day of camp.
Registration Information:
Children can register for any number of weeks during the summer – pick one or two weeks, or sign up for all five! The cost for each one-week (4-Day: Monday, Wednesday-Friday) session is $275 per camper. The Kitchen Chick offers a $25 discount when enrolling a sibling in the same session. Each session can accommodate up to 14 campers. Payment due in full at time of registration.

Music Video Bash Camp for Ages 12+!
“Creating Original Music & Videos from Scratch – You’re the Star!”
Do you like writing music? Do you see yourself as having a career in the music industry? In this course, the class will write, produce, and perform an original song. Create your own original music video with hands-on learning in camera movement, storyboarding, sound and editing. The final day of class will feature a music video festival showcasing all completed work! All students will leave class with a copy of their completed video in an easily shareable format!

Join us to see taffy being “pulled”, “spun out”, and packaged, right before you eyes. A special treat is in store as the candy maker tosses out samples for EVERYONE! Nothing beats fresh, warm, taffy. You can even get one of the girls to dip a pound or two right out of the catch basket.
Taffy pullings are daily at 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm.

Sign up for Book Club! We invite rising 3rd-7th graders as we highlight great reads through activities, crafts, reading, games, and more. Each registration signs a reader up for two sessions. In the first, we will feature several books and give a free copy of a book, which we will discuss in session two. Read the book that week, and the following Monday we will dive deep into that one book in more fun ways.
Registration is required for each pair of sessions and space is limited. Participants must be rising 3rd-7th graders.
The first Book Club meets Monday, July 8th at 2:30pm and again the following Monday, July 15th at 2:30pm.
The second Book Club meets Monday, July 22nd at 2:30pm and again the following Monday, July 29th at 2:30pm.
The third Book Club meets Monday, August 5th at 2:30pm and again the following Monday, August 12 at 2:30pm.
