This is NOT your average kid class….adults enjoy it too and learn something new each time they come
HERE, your children will be learning Art History, Technique, and Elements & Principles of Art from A-Z!
The first 30 minutes of class will be the Art History portion, where your children will get to know all the Masters, as well as the contemporary. We will be going from Primitive Cave art all the way to Andy Warhol.
Your children will leave here with new knowledge of the arts, printed handouts of the day’s lessons, and a completed piece of artwork.
We will go through ALL mediums, some will messier than others, and some will leave permanent stains. I will supply smocks for everyone, but be sure to drop off your kids with play clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, just in case
Classes will be every Friday, 4-7pm, which gives parents a perfect opportunity to take advantage of the shops and restaurants right next door to the gallery :)
Pre-registration is preferred, but we also take walk-ins.

What is Etegami? It is, briefly, a colorful Japanese folk art that consists of simple Sumi ink (dry ink) drawings paired with a few thoughtful words and watercolor. Etegami is typically drawn on postcards or on washi paper to be used as small paintings or cards.
Taught by Lisa Jastram and Lynn Cooper.
Etegami is done with very little control over the paintbrush and is painted with concentration from the heart. The thoughtful words that are added to the image can be contemplative, funny, congratulatory, healing, or just plain fun. The goal is to send these cards out to people and touch their hearts and spirits. The works are always signed.
The cost is $50, with all materials provided.

Hunt for coastal treasures with state park naturalists.
Beach Exploration hikes start at the park’s Day Use Beach boardwalk (adjacent to the restrooms and parking lot.)
Get a close-up look at the many critters and birds that inhabit the sand, surf and seaweed. This Saturday tour includes hands-on seining, searching for ghost crabs and beachcombing under the guidance of Friends of Galveston Island State Park (FoGISP) volunteers.
July 20th (11am-1pm): Alcohol and Ink Workshop With Dianne Duggan – Looking for something different and fun to do this summer? Join Dianne Duggan’s “Alcohol and Ink Workshop.” Alcohol inks are a liquid alcohol based ink that comes in a delightful array of extremely vivid colors. This exciting new medium offers artists at all levels – including beginners – the opportunity to create art like no other. For this two hour workshop, your supplies are included. You don’t have to bring a thing! Take home a beautiful 8′ x 10′ completed painting and one tile coaster. You will be inspired to create many more. Class cost is $60. Your Instructor will be Dianne Duggan, who has over 20 years of experience in art world and photography industry as an airbrush artist, photo restorer and advertising agency artist and illustrator.
