
At GAC, Art Club lets creative kids in grades 3-8 (or about ages 9-14) build their skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and more. Instructors focus on expanding students’ experience of art beyond the K-8 curriculum, introducing novel techniques, tools, concepts, and inspiration from the contemporary art world, including GAC’s rotating exhibitions.
The Fall Semester cost is $180 or $150 for members which include 15-week course. The Spring Semester cost is $240 or $200 for GAC members for the 2-week course. Individual classes are available for $20 each – start at any time.

October 5th (12 noon): Yoga at the Brewery – Swing into the brewery on the first Saturday of the month and enjoy a free yoga class brought to you by Melody Van Kay from Island Salt Air Hot Yoga. Sip on a pint, or save your taste buds for after class, as you flow through a 45-minute Vinyasa yoga class. The class will be held in the yard area. Please bring a towel, yoga mat and any additional yoga equipment that you need. Water and sunscreen are recommended. This is free of charge. All levels welcome.
Galveston Island Brewery (GIB) is a local brewery featuring an on-site taproom showcasing classic beer styles from around the world. Every Monday (1-3pm): Life Drawing Studio – Drawing the human figure from a live model is the foundation of nearly all studio art programs. If you have an interest in portrait painting, character design, comics/manga, game design, illustration, animation, fashion design, medical illustration, or just learning to “see” like an artist, this is for you! Live models pose for short “gestures” and longer poses of up to 90 minutes. Sessions are $15 and 3-month passes are available for $100.

Every Tuesday (6-8pm): Ceramic Studio – Learn hand-building techniques in pottery, figurative sculpture, and glazing with earthenware clay. Create sculptural relief tiles, full 3-D sculpture, functional pottery and tableware, figures, and more. This course uses ancient methods that don’t require a potter’s wheel, including coil construction and slab-construction. Students will learn how to securely join corners and handles, make lids fit properly, and various kinds of surface treatments, textures, and glazes. Fees are $50 for two sessions or $75 for four sessions. Join at any time!

This demonstration will feature artist, Randall Cogburn, as he plans, designs, and executes his painting of a seascape with a figure.
The demonstration is designed for everyone, artist and/or enthusiast, to sit back to watch the artist paint an interesting seascape with a human figure during this three-hour demonstration. Mr. Cogburn talks you through each section of his painting, including planning, designing, layout, lighting, color harmony and finishing touches Attendees need to bring only a note pad and pen/pencil if they wish. Picture taking is allowed but no video recording, please.

Ever wish you had cards that reflected more of you and less of the big box retailer they came from? These miniature pieces of art can be traded with friends, family, even at networking events for a lasting impression.
Gallery artist Sherrie Kostura will lead this fun, interactive class. Students will use a variety of medium to create their very personalized cards.
