Trio du Jour takes center stage at The Tremont Jazz Series. The Tremont House, A Wyndham Grand® Hotel, hosts a free jazz night every Friday and Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. in the 1888 Toujouse Bar. Trio du Jour, formed in New Orleans in the 1990s, “Performs hot swingin’ jazz from the 1940s to the present with along with some mellow favorites,” says Pianist Leah Stonum.
Enjoy live entertainment, drinks and bar bites in this cozy private lounge. The San Luis Bar is the perfect place for libations and lively conversation before or after your meal at the adjacent Steakhouse.
The history of The Temptations is the history of contemporary American pop. An essential component of the original Motown machine, that amazing engine invented by Berry Gordy, The Temps began their musical life in Detroit in the early sixties. It wasn’t until 1964, however, that Smokey Robinson wrote and produced “The Way You Do the Things You Do” turning the guys into stars and ultimately legends! Enjoy an avalanche of hits that include “My Girl,” “Get Ready,” and “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” and so many more when Otis Williams, Ron Tyson, Terry Weeks, Larry Braggs, and Willie Greene, Jr. take the stage. Benefiting Galveston Island Humane Society, this is event #3 in the Run in Texas 5K 6-Pack Series. Walker friendly! Start and finish at hip and groovy Galveston Island Brewing Co and run a well supported, well staffed 5K on a fast and flat course on the Seawall, beside the Gulf of Mexico. Post race party with food trucks and the usual 4 x 8oz beer tastings in finisher glass included. All Runners receive finisher pint glass, tech shirt and well supported, well organized 5K run.
