For over 25 years, the Galveston Arts Center has organized ArtWalk on eight Saturday evenings each year in the heart of Galveston’s historic district. ArtWalk takes place inside existing art galleries (both commercial and non-profit) and other spaces such as cafes and shops that showcase rotating art exhibits.
One of the Galveston Arts Center’s largest programs, ArtWalk supports our arts community and connects a diverse assortment of local places to see, learn about and purchase original art.

The Soft Open of the New Studio! Come celebrate with us and see the new digs! We will have work you’ve not seen before not only of my own, but a celebrated collection of work of my longtime friend, mentor, and professor Perry Johnson, visiting from Tennessee. It’s a new day for the Studio and Gallery. Come celebrate with us! The studio is reborn in a spanking brand new location. Come out Artwalk night June 8th to Celebrate with us!

July 12th, August 23rd (7:30pm): Art TALK – The Friday evening before each ArtWalk, Catherine Stroud and From the Heart Gallery will be hosting ArtTALK! They have five of their artists speak, and they invite a local business owner/artist to be the Guest Speaker and promote their store/studio. This is a fun interactive event to really get to know the artists. Browse the amazing artwork, while the artists discuss their inspirations, techniques, and experiences. There will be a Q&A, where you can ask those questions you’ve always wanted to ask, but never could during ArtWalks. This is also a great opportunity for the artists to finally get to know their clients … past, present & future. The event starts at 7:30pm. The artists and the gallery will provide wine, drinks, and snacks.

Opening for the July 13th ArtWalk will be Gaw Jones. G. Lee Gallery is delighted to be hosting retired U. S. Marine Gaw Jones in his first show “Godere.” Emerging artist, Gaw Jones, makes his artistic statement in acrylic contemporary, non-representational art. Mr. Jones has recently retired from the U. S. Marine Corps. Originally from Liberia, Africa, he and his family emigrated to the United States during that country’s civil war. He has made the U. S. his home becoming a citizen and serving as a Marine. Gaw’s original, unique art will be featured 1-9pm Saturday, July 13th.
Also showing art is Constance Paul, Ruth Ann Rickman, Sherrie Kostura, Liz Wilson, Kelly Halbach, Jane East, Susan Tyler, Jeanetta Brewster; jewelry by Rene Armstrong and Charlotte Martin; fused glass by Sheryl Lambert; pottery by Lana Loveland and, our resident artist George Douglas Lee with still life, landscapes, contemporary and iconic Galveston landmarks in oil, acrylic and mixed media.
