Beach Exploration hikes start at the park’s Day Use Beach boardwalk (adjacent to the restrooms and parking lot.)

Get a close-up look at the many critters and birds that inhabit the sand, surf and seaweed. This Saturday tour includes hands-on seining, searching for ghost crabs and beachcombing under the guidance of Friends of Galveston Island State Park (FoGISP) volunteers.

G. Lee Gallery artist Dianne Duggan will be sharing her floral painting techniques with you in this fun filled workshop. For the beginner to intermediate painter. At the close of this painting workshop you will take home a beautiful painting and the memory of a fun filled afternoon.

Dianne will walk you through the acrylic painting process step-by-step. You will learn how to transfer an image to the canvas; color mixing with a limited pallet; and, how to adjust the color scheme.

All supplies are included. 

$60/person. Minimum of three students, maximum 6.

Children over 12 are welcome.

Ranger Lisa will clear an area for our contest, and bring some gear for you to use. We want to see what kind of castle you (and your family and friends) can make. Everyone is invited to spend some time gathering materials, building a structure, and decorating it to your liking!
