A Unique Tour of the Texas Coasts:

Matagorda Raptor Tour

You don’t have to be an experienced birder to enjoy this tour! Your guide will be spotting and identifying the birds that you see, and making sure that you have as much time as you like to enjoy watching them, learning about them, and photographing them. This trip is fun and relaxing, and a great way to enjoy nature with friends and family.

October 26th (7am-5pm), the Matagorda Raptor Tour will be held. This special birding tour from Galveston to Matagorda and back has a focus on raptors. This is an amazing time of year to see raptors, and you have the potential to see a dozen species on this tour, including Burrowing Owls, Bald Eagles, Crested Caracaras, White-tailed Hawks, and many more. You will also enjoy seeing other coastal specialties along the way, such as Brown Pelicans, Reddish Egrets, Tricolored Herons, and Lesser Black-backed Gulls. You will take a break for lunch mid-day (cost of lunch not included.) You may want to bring snacks and drinks. Registration deadline: October 24 at 5pm. Cost is $100 for 16 years old and up.

Tour participants will ride in air-conditioned comfort in a car or passenger van, where they will be able to get close views of the birds without doing a lot of hiking. These field trips are perfect for those who want to stay out of the weather but still want to enjoy nature, and for those with limited mobility.

Details on the meeting location will be provided with your registration confirmation. Parking is free unless otherwise noted.

Private tours to these and other locations are also available upon arrangement, including groups or families with younger children. For more info email kristine@birdingforfun.com or call (832)372-8236.
