Sea Star Base Galveston is excited to invite the citizens of Galveston, all the Bay Area communities, Houston and the surrounding communities to explore everything the organization and world class facilities have to offer for learning, aquatic adventures and family fun on Saturday, June 22nd, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; the facility is located at 7509 Broadway Street, Galveston.

 

Sea Star Base Galveston is a nonprofit organization offering outstanding marine and aquatic programs where youth can learn teamwork and leadership skills, self-reliance and confidence, maritime career pathways and independence of mind, body and spirit. The programs offered are intended for people of all ages and abilities with special provisions provided for those with physical or mental limitations. 

 

Additionally, the organization is the home to the only U.S. Community Sailing Center in Texas.

“This is a hidden gem that everyone in the local area, state and country are missing out on,” says Capt. Mike Janota, Director of Community Sailing.

 

All attendees to the Open House will have the opportunity to tour the facilities, register for Summer Aquatic Adventure Camps, become a member, register to volunteer for the organization and go for a quick ride on the Baysmart Express in Offatts Bayou. “We really want to open our doors and invite everyone to come check out our awesome programs, facilities and staff,” said Heather Faris, Director of Marketing and Community Outreach. “This beautiful place was built for people to explore the endless possibilities in maritime education, sailing hobbies and possibly a career in the maritime industry,” said Faris, “We look forward to all who come to check us out and GET ON BOARD!”
