Wake up to the sound of waves rolling onto the sand and end the day with fireworks lighting up the sky over the Gulf. The 4th of July on Galveston Island is a celebration rooted in tradition, but made unforgettable by its coastal setting.
From the morning parade along the Seawall to the final burst of color above the water, the day is filled with classic Americana and easygoing island charm. You’ll find families setting up picnic blankets, kids waving flags, and live music drifting through the warm evening air. No matter how long you stay, Independence Day here feels special. There’s space to slow down, enjoy the simple pleasures, and create new memories by the water.
Galveston Island will celebrate Independence Day with a festive parade and a fireworks display over the Gulf.
The parade features floats, marching bands, and local organizations, bringing patriotic energy to the Seawall.
The parade kicks off at 6:00PM on Friday, July 4th, as a festive lineup of Jeeps, golf carts, and decorated vehicles rolls from 22nd Street to 45th Street in a patriotic display.
Lineup starts at 4:30PM at 19th and Seawall. Make sure your music is clean, your candy is ready to toss, and your vehicle is parade-ready—this is one of Galveston’s most spirited summer events.
Right after the 4th of July Parade, grab a spot along the Seawall and get ready for the show—fireworks begin at 9:15 PM.
The best views are between 27th and 37th Streets, but you’ll be able to see the display from just about anywhere on the island.
Bring a lawn chair, kick back, and enjoy the grand finale to a day of celebration.
