2018 MiM ‘R & R in Roanoke

NCM ‘Museum in Motion’ is visiting the Roanoke, West Virginia area for a little ‘R & R’ before the National Corvette Museum’s Labor Day Celebration.
Experience the incredible views and observe wildlife and plant species indigenous to the lake environment. *Kayak, Canoe or Paddleboat on the Stonewall Jackson Lake, *Play Golf on the Palmer Signature Coarse. *Massages and Body treatments in Mt. Laurel Spa, The Jacuzzi, Sauna and Stream Room will push the stress right out of your minds. Relax around or swim in the Indoor/Outdoor pool. Complementary “fun in the sun” boat cruise on Little Sorrel each afternoon. Enjoy Drinks in TJ Muskies offering craft beer, a nice wine selection and legendary mixed beverages. Seneca Rocks, located in Monongahela National Forest, is one of the best-known landmarks in West Virginia and have long been noted as a scenic attraction and are popular with rock climbers. The rocks are a magnificent formation rising nearly 900 feet above the North Fork River.

2:00pm | The Criminally Insane Tour – Trans-Allegheny Asylum
Formerly known as the Weston State Hospital, this West Virginia facility served as a sanctuary for the mentally ill in the mid-1800’s. The history of the building holds fascinating stories of Civil War raids, a gold robbery, the “curative” effects of architecture, and the efforts of determined individuals to help better the lives of the mentally ill.
