This Mother’s Day, give a unique gift that supports wildlife – adopt or name a Galveston Bay bottlenose dolphin mom!
When you adopt or name a dolphin mom this Mother’s Day, you help fund the Galveston Bay Dolphin Research Program and become part of its Dolphin Society. The research enhances our knowledge about the lives of bottlenose dolphins (a federally protected species) that make the Bay their home and are important to its ecosystem. We can tell dolphins apart based on their fins and will send you updates about your dolphin!

Adoptable Moms:
Dumbledolph and Jersey
Dumbledolph became a mom in 2020! The team spotted her with a tiny calf in August 2020. With her wizardly fin, Dumbledolph stands out in a crowd and is very helpful when training observers to distinguish between individual dolphins.
Jersey is the mother of three of our cataloged dolphins: #44, #741 and #872! She is unique in that #741 and #872 were born very close together (only about 1.5yrs apart) and she has had both calves with her since the first sighting of #872 in May 2018. Jersey has become quite popular among waterfront communities in Clear Lake and Taylor Lake because she frequented the lakes in Summer 2020 (with her two calves).
Nameable Mom:
Dolphin #4
We have known #4 since 2013! She had her adorable calf #906 in 2018. They often hang out with other mother/calf pairs in upper Galveston Bay. We sometimes see her with adopted mom Ducky (#75) who also had a calf in 2018.
