Christmas Murder Mystery at Schaefer Haus @ DTO Daquiri Time Out

December 13th (7-10pm): Christmas Murder Mystery at Schaefer Haus – Creative Learning Society is pleased to invite you to a Christmas Murder Mystery to celebrate the most wonderful time of year with a fun Christmas-themed murder mystery. All of our guests will have the choice of playing a character or a detective in the mystery. They will provide costumes and props and all of the fun. The event will include a delicious array of appetizers and dessert platters with the mystery and you are welcome to bring your own beer and wine to enjoy. Tickets are $60 per person. Make a whole weekend out of the event and book a room at The Schaefer Haus. Contact them at schaeferhausgalveston.com. WARNING: Crazy outfits/Team Uniforms are EXTREMELY encouraged. People in normal, boring clothes will be punished with evil stares and glares for the rest of their lives. . . (Not really, but c’mon everything is more fun in a costume!)

And visitors to Galveston Restaurant Week will enjoy these delightful and delicious eateries and more for prix-fixe lunch and/or dinner menus – at attractive price points you’re sure to savor! And while your taste buds are celebrating delicious, you can put the guilt aside knowing that your participation in Restaurant Week is helping others. This year, Galveston Restaurant Week eatery has committed to help Access Care of Coastal Texas provide weekly lunches to its clients. These lunches provide nutrition for persons with HIV or AIDS. Participating in Galveston Restaurant Week is easy! No tickets or passes are required! Food lovers may simply dine out at as many participating restaurants as they like during Galveston Restaurant Week. Two and/or 3-course dinners will be priced between $20-$35; and 2-course lunches, breakfasts, & brunches will cost between $10-$20. 11th Annual Polar Palooza @ The Float Pool Bar

Wear your craziest costume and take the plunge for charity! This year’s Polar Palooza will be held Saturday, January 25th at Floats Pool. Join us for a chilly dip and a good time that will benefit The Yaga’s Children’s Fund. Sign up starts January 1st and you can register with any of our Float bartenders or staff. Registration includes a t-shirt. Party starts at 1pm with dunk time at 3pm. We will have great prizes for costumes, drink specials and a chilling good time! Hope to see everyone there!

The Galveston Symphony will perform three more concerts in our 40th anniversary season.
 
Orchestra fans are in for a treat on February 9 as Saeverud himself will perform Paganini’s First Violin Concerto
 
Then, on March 15, the concert program will include the world premiere of a new piano concerto by Saeverud’s father, Ketil Hvoslef, a prolific Norwegian composer and four-time recipient of the Norwegian Society of Composers’ Work of the Year award. 
 
And the season will end on a high note on April 19th, with Respighi’s rousing ‘Pines of Rome!’
 
Concerts are Sundays at 4 p.m. in The Grand 1894 Opera House, 2020 Postoffice Street in Galveston’s historic downtown district.
 
The Symphony’s companion series, Moody Mansion Music, offers opportunities to meet visiting soloists. The up-close and intimate recitals are at 7 p.m. in the ballroom of Galveston’s beautiful historic Moody Mansion, 2618 Broadway Avenue.

Anchor Leg Athletic Club: Run Meet @ Pleasure Pier

February 12th (6:30pm): Anchor Leg Athletic Club: Run Meet – Whether you are a walker, a jogger, or a seasoned marathoner, you are invited to join. At the end of each event, stick around and hang out with other runners, enjoy music, and sip brews. Check in time is at 6:30pm. You can choose from 3 miles, 2 miles, 1 mile. This will start at Devil and the Deep Brewery, Downtown Galveston. This is a free event and open to all levels. There is an optional donation of $5. These donations go to improve the club and for purchasing things like water, snacks, signs, print materials and more. Donate at the club or online at paypal.me/anchorlegac.
