Cooking Class: Tuscan Wine Dinner! @ The Kitchen Chick

Come take a cooking class at The Kitchen Chick! Join Chef Mary under the Tuscan sun for an authentic Italian meal! We’ll start by learning to make a classic panzanella salad full of garden grown tomatoes and fragrant herbs. Next, we’ll teach you to make pasta from scratch. We’ll cook our fresh pasta and toss it with kalamata olives, mushrooms, ripe tomatoes, spinach and artichokes. We’ll create a homemade white wine and pesto cream sauce for the dish and finish it with sauteed gulf shrimp. Finally, we’ll bake a rustic Tuscan apple cake and enjoy it warm with ice cream made locally at Hey Mikey’s. Mama mia, this is going to be a delizioso class!

Cooking Class: Day of the Dead Sugar Cookies with Royal Icing! @ The Kitchen Chick

Come take a cooking class at The Kitchen Chick! Our popular sugar cookie class is back! Chef Toni will teach you her secret recipe for making foolproof sugar cookies here at sea level and how to ice them perfectly. You’ll learn to MAKE, pour, pipe, border, fill, dye, paint and dust royal frosting! Each participant will leave with a dozen dia de los muertos cookies, as well as all the recipes, knowledge and confidence to make them at home!
$50/person.

Cooking Class: Sugar Skulls! @ The Kitchen Chick

Come take a cooking class at The Kitchen Chick! Fill your Day of the Dead ofrenda with handmade sugar skulls! Chef Toni Lynch will teach you how to decorate these traditional dia de los muertos offerings. You will also make and decorate festive molded chocolate candies and pops. Sugar skull art reflects the folk art style of big happy smiles, colorful icing and sparkly, glittery adornments. At the end of class you will take home your skulls and candies.

$50/person.

Cooking Class: Gulf Seafood – Its All About Attitudes & Latitudes! @ The Kitchen Chick

Come take a cooking class at The Kitchen Chick! On the gulf coast, its all about latitudes & attitudes! Chef Bailey Glover is teaching you how to prepare fresh gulf seafood dishes at home. We’ll start the class by making a spicy shrimp remoulade stack with layers of fresh tomato and drizzled with a divine citrus basil vinaigrette. Next, master pan-seared snapper fillet served with a light lemon herb sauce over a bed of creamy gruyere and fresh cracked pepper polenta. Finally, you’ll crack into a sinful homemade creme brulee for dessert. It doesn’t get any fresher than our famous gulf seafood cooking classes!

Cooking Class: Master Sauce Series – Roux! @ The Kitchen Chick

Come take a cooking class at The Kitchen Chick! We’re kicking off a new master sauce series focused on improving your skills in the kitchen and helping you become a more capable, confident cook! Join Chef Mary Bass for four relaxed, fun-filled classes, where you will master the art of sauces and learn to LOVE their ability to smother and cling to whatever they get drizzled, dolloped, or poured on!
All classes in this series are held on Mondays at 6:30pm. Each date will focus on a specific sauce. Pick and choose or sign up for all four!
$60/person/class.
October 9: Bechamel – Master bechamel sauce! You will learn to prepare a savory fall sage & butternut squash crostini to snack on. Next, you’ll learn to deconstruct a whole chicken and make homemade chicken pot pie with a delicate cream of mushroom base topped with pastry from scratch. We’ll end the class with flaky apple pie empanadas.
October 16: Hollandaise – Master hollandaise – everyone’s favorite mother sauce! You will learn to make crispy shrimp fritters paired with a spicy homemade aioli dipping sauce. Prepare savory steak medallions drizzled with creamy Bearnaise from scratch along with smoked gouda mashed potatoes and herb roasted carrots.
October 23: Master Roux & Thickening Agents – Learn when to use cornstarch and when to reach for tapioca flour. You will make a dreamy Mexi mac loaded with seasoned ground beef, fresh herbs, roasted corn & red onion salsa plus LOTS of cheese! We’ll bake homemade focaccia to dip in bowls of creamy poblano soup. Finally we’ll end the night by preparing a heavenly pumpkin cheesecake & harvest granola trifle.
October 30: Master Mole Sauce – You will learn two preparations of this south of the border fundamental sauce: a week-night friendly version plus an authentic Oaxacan mole. Both are are perfect for smothering chicken thighs. We’ll make a tasty Mexican hummus for snacking. And for dessert we’ll fry crispy homemade churros!

Cooking Class: Voodoo Feast! @ The Kitchen Chick

Come take a cooking class at The Kitchen Chick! You’re invited on a tasty tour of the bayou with Chef Mary Bass! To start, you will learn to make creole shrimp riding atop crispy corn cakes. Next, you will prepare irresistible cajun glazed chicken lollipops stacked on sweet potato hay. We’ll bake up batches of individual flaky hand pies stuffed with voodoo crawfish swamp dip. For dessert, you will learn to make seasonal pumpkin bread pudding with drizzled with decadent Kahlua caramel sauce from scratch! This class will cast a spell over you!

MEchanics – Presented by Autozone and Leachman Cadillac @ National Corvette Museum Maintenance and Preservation Department

Join us at the National Corvette Museum on October 28th at 10:00AM for the re-introduction of our “MEchanics” program – sponsored by Autozone and Leachman Cadillac.

In this two hour class hosted by our own Daniel Decker, students of all ages will learn about the basics of car care from the professionals at the National Corvette Museum.

From changing a flat tire, to checking fluids in an engine, to changing a headlight bulb, students will learn first-hand how to care for their car and become more prepared drivers for whatever may happen on the road.
