Galveston’s Own Farmers Market at Bryan Museum @ Bryan Museum
May 19 @ 8:00 am – 1:00 pm

Every Thursday 3-6pm and Sunday 9am-12 noon (note new summer hours), Galveston’s Own Farmers Market is held at The Bryan Museum Gardens, located at 1315 21st St. Come to the beautiful Conservatory and botanical gardens to relax and enjoy time and conversation with friends, family, and museum staff while shopping for locally grown produce, prepared foods, and edible farm products, plus live music, yoga, massage, crafting and Kids Corner! 

The Thursday market features all of the perks that you’ve come to expect at the market plus the added charms of the Bryan Museum’s “Wine at the Bryan” weekly event. The Sunday market also features wonderful goods and the charm of Bryan’s courtyard. It is always free to browse and most events are FREE to participate. 

At every market, there will be:

  • Live music
  • A chance to learn more about The Bryan Museum
  • FREE recycling with Keepin’ It Green: Every week, they accept your clean, rinsed recyclable plastics, glass, aluminum and paper/cardboard. KIG comes to pick it up every week aftermarket.
  • Family-friendly activities sponsored by partners like Rosenberg Library, Galveston Island State Park, Galveston Island Humane Society, etc.

GOFM is always “BYOC” – bring your own cup. They have eliminated single-use cups for the free Sunday morning coffee station and Thursday water station. Support the initiative by cleaning out your cupboards and donating unwanted mugs to market for others to use.

Every Sunday (10am): Yoga Classes – These classes are led by local yoga teachers. All classes are free to attend.

10th Annual Mudbugs and Beer on the Bayou @ Galveston Boat Club Inc
May 23 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Join us as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of Mudbugs and Beer on the Bayou! This year’s event will feature all-you-can-eat crawfish and hotdogs for those of you who don’t fancy mudbugs.

The event is for C-Crewe members and a recruitment effort of new members. We encourage all current C-Crewe members to bring a potential new member to this event.

Cooking Class: Gulf Seafood – Feelin’ Crabby! @ Kitchen Chick

Come take a cooking class at The Kitchen Chick! Gulf seafood is all about latitude & attitudes! Chef Bailey Glover will teach you how to properly cook & prepare delicious fresh seafood dishes! We’re feelin’ crabby, how ’bout you? You will learn to make a corn, bacon and jumbo lump crab soup. Next, you will pan-fry crispy soft shell crab in a classic butter sauce. You’ll also learn to make a crispy crab cake accompanied by a creamy remoulade sauce. Finally, we’ll turn ripe summer strawberries into a rich mousse topped with chantilly cream. Life on the gulf coast sure is tasty!

Come take a cooking class at The Kitchen Chick! Buttery, flaky, and tender – the hallmarks of a great biscuit! Join Chef Bailey and learn to master the art of baking big southern biscuits! She will teach you biscuit basics and then show you how to make a seasonal fruit jam from scratch, cinnamon pecan compound butter AND finger-licking herb-crusted crispy fried chicken drizzled with sweet heat buffalo syrup! We’re throwing a big ‘ol biscuit breakfast baking party!

Cooking Class: Life’s A Beach Advanced Cookies with Royal Icing! @ The Kitchen Chick

Come take a cooking class at The Kitchen Chick! Life’s a beach here on Galveston Island! Join Chef Stephanie for an ADVANCED sugar cookie decorating class and take your skills to the next level! You will work on lettering, fondant molds, air brushing and stenciling with royal icing. Each participant will leave with a dozen decorated cookies, as well as all the recipes, knowledge and confidence to make them again at home! These fancy cookies will put you in the mood for summer!

2019 Galveston Heart Ball @ Tremont House

Join the American Heart Association (AHA), event chairs Dr. Abe DeAnda and Stephen K. Jones, Jr. and 300 of Galveston and Bay Area’s finest philanthropists, business leaders, socialites, medical professionals, and volunteers to raise funds and awareness for the fight against the Number 1 and Number 5 killers of all Americans- heart disease and stroke. This annual event is locally sponsored by UTMB Health, and will be honoring Shanna Pennington, who is a local stroke survivor. The annual Heart Ball campaign allows us to fund the research, advocacy, and education programs of the American Heart Association that play a key role in preventing and treating cardiovascular diseases and stroke in our community. Black Tie & Boots is known throughout the Galveston and Bay Area communities for being one of the most fun, entertaining, and mission-driven galas around.
