Galveston Island Humane Society Hosts  22nd Annual Paws Gala, Live From Paws Gala…it’s Saturday Night!

The Galveston Island Humane Society (GIHS) will host its 22nd Annual PAWS Gala, on Saturday evening, September 28.   This special fundraiser – “Live from PAWS Gala…It’s Saturday Night!” – will celebrate 50 years of Saturday Night Live and will honor two very special friends of the animals – Janice and Vic Pierson – who have generously committed their time and resources to GIHS for many years. This fun gala will be held on the second floor of the Galveston Island Convention Center, 5600 Seawall Boulevard, from 6.30pm-11pm, and includes open bar and seated dinner.

Since 1999, GIHS has hosted twenty themed-galas to raise money to first build, and now maintain, the shelter/facility – located at 6814 Broadway. Contributions are used to maintain this “home” where lost, abused, unwanted, sick, and needy animals are provided safe, temporary shelter, medical treatment, and quality care – until these homeless animals can be adopted into their “forever” home with a loving and caring family. 

This year’s Elite Pet Owners and their pets include Kimberly Hill Danesi, with “Dino.” Katherine and Kris Pompa, with “Chente.” Katherine and Brian Maxwell, with “Winston.” Fox Maisel with “Tulip LaRue.” Maegen Moore Ortiz with “Woody.” Laura Elder and Michael Smith with “Bodine,” and Mayes Middleton with “Jose Altuve.”

This year, look forward to music from a Blue’s Brother’s Band and the famous Password, plus take part in the exciting raffle that includes the chance to win a fabulous trip to New York City!
