I Hope You’re Hungry … Two New ‘Must-Tries’ in Downtown Galveston
Downtown Galveston has two new restaurants open this summer that are must-try’s.
Hearsay on The Strand, located at 2410 Strand, is open and is getting rave reviews. This is the third location for Hearsay which has two locations in Houston. Hearsay on The Strand offers a chic and unique dining experience in the historic Fadden Building. The restaurant offers 60 taps, craft cocktails, New American dishes, and brunch.
To walk through the doors of Hearsay on the Strand is to be transported to an undefined era in history. Sip specialty craft cocktails and savor inspired renditions of contemporary American dishes as you embark on a journey through time where past and present collide. “At Hearsay, we’re half old-world revival, half culinary crusaders – creating a dining experience that is simply chic antique.”
The menu features everything from Crab Cake to Battered Asparagus as appetizers. Main dishes feature unique burgers, Kobe Beef Hot Dogs, a Slow Roasted Prime Rib French Dip Sandwich, Pappardelle Chicken Pesto, Chicken Fried Steak, Baked Stuffed Chicken Breast, Bacon Wrapped Stuffed Meatloaf, and Grilled Salmon & Mango Avocado Pico.
Hearsay serves craft cocktails and upscale American cuisine such as lamb, risotto and fried quail. They serve brunch, lunch, and dinner.
Shark Shack Beach Bar and Grill, 2402 Strand, opened in late May. Online reviewers are raving about Shark Shack, which offers laid back favorites like fried green beans, bacon-wrapped shrimp, and main dishes like burgers, fried seafood, and of course cocktails. The cheese stuffed bacon wrapped shrimp (Shark Bites) are fabulous. The “Hot Mess” cocktail is the perfect combination of sweet (melon liqueur) and spicy (jalapeno infused tequila).
Owner Allen Flores describes it to be a “lively restaurant” with daily happy hour specials 2-6pm. In the evenings on weekends, it transitions into a fun nightlife spot with a DJ and late night drink specials 10-11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
