August 10th (5:30pm): Sunset Paddle – The Friends of Galveston Island State Park provides a great experience on the water with a guide. Safety, paddling tips, and environmental education will be given during this active aquatic tour. Reserve your spot for a quick instruction, free gear rental, and a guided trip with a trained guide into the protected cove of Galveston Bay. You will start with an orientation on land, paddle out into the bay, and return before the sun sets. The starting location is the Oak Bayou picnic area. Register by emailing email@example.com.
Galveston Island State Park is located on the west end of the island at 14901 FM 3005, Galveston. For more info call (409)737-1222 or go to tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/galveston-island. The beachside of Galveston State Park (everything south of FM 3005) is closed as renovations take place. The side facing the bay will remain open. This closing is expected to last for about three years.
