Come out for FREE music Thursday nights at Menard Park with our Save The Locals summer concert series 6-9pm!
La Izquierda is thrilled to present the highly anticipated Save the Locals Summer Concert Series, a free and friendly music shindig scheduled to take place every Thursday evening from 6-9PM throughout June and July.
The series will take place at the historic Menard Park Bandshell, located at 2222 28th St., Galveston, TX. Any rained-out evenings will be rescheduled for Thursdays in August.
The Save the Locals Summer Concert Series aims to bring the community together. With a diverse lineup of local and regional bands, this event promises to be a celebration of music, community, and culture.
Remaining concert this summer is as follows:
- July 13: El Lago with Tremours
- July 20: The Zydeco Dots with Sean Lucy
- July 27: DEM Roots Music with Shame on Me
Save the Locals is an initiative brought to you by the organizers of the celebrated La Izquierda Surf and Music Fest. The series serves as a platform for local musicians and artists to recover from the economic challenges posed by the pandemic and contribute to the cultural landscape of Galveston.
“We invite you to come out and get to know your neighbors in a safe outdoor space through the universal language of music,” said Executive Director, Robert Kuhn. “This free series is where the magic of community connection happens, whether you’re a BOI (Born-on-the-Island) or an IBC (Island by Choice). One of the most beautiful things is watching all the kids run around and exhaust themselves dancing while the parents get to chill with their blankets and lawn chairs. This is our home.”
In addition to the original and moving performances, attendees can enjoy complimentary refreshments and meet various community organizations and sponsors such as the Surfrider Foundation, Galveston Island Brewing, Galveston Art Center, The Future is Us, and more. The event will also feature arts and crafts activities for the whole family.
